Background
Red Stamp was a mobile e-commerce app for sending customized digital greetings on iPhones. It grew rapidly for three years and was acquired by Taylor Corporation in 2014. The staff was expanded from five to ten people in order to meet growth targets that included more device platforms, products, and cross-channel marketing.
Responsibilities
As Product Lead it was my job to lead product management, user experience design, and visual and interaction design. This work involved directing designers and developers, some of whom were located in Uruguay.
Actions
While at Taylor, I drove the design and development of the Android version of the Red Stamp app that launched at the end of 2013. I also designed new workflows to support the expansion of digital greetings into paper, and then a second expansion into home and party decor. Working with marketing, we also integrated native iOS and Android notifications into Red Stamp to support order tracking and special product announcements. And none of that would have mattered without speed and reliability, so I was constantly seeking more of both.
Results
I drove improvements for the iOS and Android apps that resulted in 20% higher customer satisfaction, and a performance and reliability improvement of 90%. Our new workflows also enabled us to develop a completely new, mobile-first responsive web experience that supported the discovery, customization, and purchase of over one dozen new product types for customers who did not want to be limited to using smartphones or tablets.
