Background
After getting my first app reviewed and approved by Apple, I looked for other opportunities to design apps. I was introduced to Mark Brancel, a physician at the University of Minnesota who published pocket medical reference guides for resident physicians. We decided to use his medical reference content to make app versions of the Brancel reference guides.

Actions
Over the course of several months I worked on reformatting Mark's text and adding interactive tables of contents, illustrations, and indexes. There were six titles that covered the topics of obstetric prenatal care, obstetric urgent and emergency care, newborn primary care, urgent care, orthopedic anatomy, and orthopedic trauma (plus a seventh that combined the obstetric and newborn care content). Then over the next several years, I managed the products in Apple's App Store and Google Play, and incrementally improved each edition in a strategic manner, consistently increasing sales.

Results
Dr. Brancel was able to capture several thousand dollars in revenue from the App Store and Google Play with these medical reference apps, and customers gained features like cross-reference links and tappable index entries that enhanced the usability of the digital versions as compared to print.
