Background
The Allina Health organization treats millions of patients each year in over 90 clinics, 12 hospitals and through a wide variety of specialty care services in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. As Allina explored how to incorporate more digital resources into their healthcare offerings, one of the areas that stood out was supporting pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care.
Actions
I served as a contract design and product management consultant for Allina and did the UX, visual design and iOS app development (using an HTML framework) for the Allina Beginnings app. The app provided medical content, and also enabled expecting parents to track the activity of their unborn child as well as frequency of contractions as they approached their due date.
Results
Allina Beginnings had thousands of downloads, received positive ratings and reviews in the App Store, and provided valuable information and significant peace of mind to expecting parents during a new, and often anxious, period of starting or expanding their families. It was also a fast and convenient way to link them directly to phone resources at Allina when additional information was needed.
